Band Development Days

MUSIC ROCKS ACADEMY'S goal is to offer our aspiring young musicians an opportunity to participate in band development days. This program will help them explore self-expression and gain confidence in their instruments and to learn what it takes to play with other instruments as a band. They will do this in a safe and fun learning environment. Not only will they meet and interact with other young musicians, but they will also be given unique access to music professionals. Our Instructors will share their experience and knowledge to help students understand some of concepts related to developing a band. We may just find the next great Band!

Putting a student in a band/group promotes social well-being by giving them a sense of belonging, and feeling important, which is essential to a child's self esteem and development. As part of a musical band/group, a student becomes a vital member of a somewhat social group. There is a camaraderie among band/group members that is not found anywhere else. The common goal of making music brings students together and they experience joy while performing and learn that hard work and discipline do produce results. These lessons are important in life. With the recent rise of teen violence, educators are encouraging children to participate in extracurricular school activities as an alternative to the streets. Not only do the students stay off the streets, they learn to respect themselves as they become aspiring musicians. An introduction to these band development days is valuable to the development of these children.

Without social skills, children will not reach their full potential. They can be the brightest one in their class, but if they lack self esteem and the ability to interact socially with their peers, their full potential will be difficult to achieve. Many children who study music may never enter the music profession, but will always have a love and enjoyment of music in their lives. It is our hope all our students get a chance to experience our band development days.
